I'm New

We recognize that many people who visit a church for the first time are uncertain as to what to expect. Please know that when you visit Wilson Memorial Church, you will receive a warm welcome and we want you to feel at home! You may also be encouraged to know that we are a spiritual home for questioners and seekers as well as those who have a long-standing cherished faith. We come from a range of backgrounds and faith journeys, and we desire to simply grow together as we strive to follow Jesus’ teachings.

We thought you might have a few questions that we can answer here...

What time is your Worship Service?

Sundays, 10:00am

Do you offer childcare and Sunday School?

Yes. Childcare is offered during the Worship service for infants and toddlers. We take our “Safe Church” guidelines seriously and only qualified individuals are permitted to oversee our well-equipped childcare room. Sunday School is offered September-May at the same time as our Worship Service. Children join their families for the beginning of the service and then leave for special activities related to their faith development.

How do I get there? Where do I park?

We are conveniently located on the corner of Hillcrest Rd and Valley Rd. in Watchung, NJ. Think of us as right off the Watchung Circle and south of exit 40 off route 78. Onsite parking is available.

What happens during church?

As you enter, a friendly usher will greet you and give you a bulletin to guide you through the service. At times, you will be invited to read responsively, stand, sing, greet your neighbor, listen and reflect. During our service we maintain the ancient Christian practice of receiving an offering to support the church’s ministries. On the first Sunday of the month (generally) we celebrate the Sacrament of Communion. Our communion table is open to everyone – baptized or not, seeker or believer!

What should I wear?

It is your choice. We encourage you to dress in the way that feels most appropriate to you. Some people come dressed in their Sunday best. Others dress more casually.

How long do services last?

Our Service lasts approximately one hour.

Is there a coffee hour or fellowship time after church?

After each worship service, you are invited to our Fisher Hall, just down the ramp from our sanctuary for a time of fellowship. We hope you will enjoy visiting with others, make some new friends and enjoy a snack or beverage.

Is the church handicap accessible?

Yes. There are designated handicap parking spaces close to our main doors. There are no steps entering our church or on the main floor of our building.

How can I get more information?

Our Pastor, Rev. Barbara Peters and our Director of Youth and Family Ministries, Michael Droege, would love to answer any questions you might have! They are always available to chat or respond through email. You are welcome to call the church office at (908) 755-5020 or email wilsonchurch@verizon.net and we’ll make sure your questions get to the right place.
