Rev. Barbara Peters

Barbara grew up in the Midwest (southwest of Chicago to be precise), but for the last twenty-seven years has called New Jersey home. She first came on staff at Wilson Memorial as an Adult Education/Bible Study leader. Eventually, she was called to serve Wilson Memorial as Associate Pastor (1997-2006) and then as Senior Pastor (2006-present). Barbara was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister (PCUSA) in 1981 after attending Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After seminary, she and her husband served as Co-Pastors of Corfu United Presbyterian Church in upstate New York before moving to New Jersey. Her husband, Tom, is Pastor of The First Presbyterian Church of Stirling and they have two grown children.

Barbara loves the relational aspect of ministry and fostering spiritual growth. She is a certified Spiritual Director and is currently enjoying her training in Enneagram Personality Type theory. Whether leading a book group study, blessing pets at the annual Blessing of the Animals service, engaging Confirmation students or learning someone’s individual story, Barbara celebrates the warmth of Wilson Memorial which she truly feels is a church family seeking to be all God intends for it to be through its congregational life and service to the world.
